This page lists charities and other organisations collecting old audio cassette tapes for reuse or recycling.

If any details are incorrect or you know of any other groups collecting them, please leave a comment below and I’ll update the listings.

The tapes are recorded over and used in the unit’s activities to promote healthy living and well-being, and as talking books/newspapers/newsletter for visually impaired people.

Nigel has let us know that thanks to Recycle This readers, he currently has enough tapes for the time being. If he needs any more in the future, he’ll let us know and we’ll update this page.

Not a charity but Debbie collects colourful and interesting looking tapes to upcycle into belt buckles and the like.

    Thanks.

Did you get any response Moira? I’ve inherited many of these as well as VHS videos. I don’t want to dump them and wondered if you’d found the answer.

Same problem (opportunity?) here. Dozens of largely classical tapes of high quality but not of use to me. Any ideas, anyone, please?

I am a resident of Chennai. I have a good collection of carnatic music songs, mostly in good condition. Since these days there are no takers for such materials as things like memory card etc have taken over. They also occupy much space apart from the maintenance they need. I shall be extremely happy if some one takes them (absolutely free) and more, if they could use them as well. If any individual or temple people show interest, I shall be very happy and satisfied to donate them.

Got lots of audio cassettes, blank, recorded and pre-recorded. I’d be grateful if you would like to take them rather than sending to landfill.

    • Dave says:

      Hi Joao,

I have a number of audio cassettes that I was looking to recycle.

I can happily post them to you if you still need them.

      Please let me know….
