I don’t recommend crumpling the newspaper if you’re going to put it in the compost bin. It takes longer to decompose that way.

My dad has reused one as a pen holder in his car. He taped one end up and has put it in the door compartment in his car to stop all his pens sliding about. ( you could obviously paint it first so it looked less loo roll like if needed!)

you CAN make a disco ball out of them. I saw it @tree hugger. YOu have to heat them and then cu out little squares and then glue those to a styrofoam ball.

if they are strong enough, cut them to make the legs for a small childs chair . then take a small pillow and glue it to thick cardboard for the seat.

these guys are great for poking into an attackers eyes.if you have small ones they can be used as charms for a bracelet. you can also use a small lock and key for a key to my heart setr .Put the lock on one necklace the key on your mates with a love note.

just pay someone to gut it. make sure they recycle what they can to make your aquarium. I’ve seen this done with great results.

I just saw this great ide on tree hugger it was a wall papered in brown paper bags. the cool thing is that if you get a hole all you need is another paper bag! It looked fabulous. Who knew?!

this is no lie. a soldier in Iraq was saved buy a comrad that stuck a tampon in his gunshot wound. Guess that’s a good tip if you live in Iraq. LOL

responsible cat owners keep their cats indoors. It keeps them healthy and safe from the people walking their dogs who like to chase the cats who are also on leashes. I know this because I tried it. In return I have apermanent scar where my cat latched on in utter panic.
I can’t get my cat to use anything but clay.My vet told me that once a cat decides what it likes your stuck. I was wondering about the stink factor .I love my clumping because I can remove the stink without having to change the litter every two days which is what I had to do with the non clumping kind.can these alternative litters be used with that electronic litter box? How does that thing work anyway?I would think I’d have to use clumping clay for it to work anyway. Also is there a clumping alternative? My cat is so very picky about this litter being clean.

The long flexi ones are great for tying around plants(o.k. it’s more like molding around plants) you are propping with string. This is especially good for tree seedlings. they are so thick and cushy they wont hurt thr bark.
The others could be used for halloween . all you need is an old houscoaot your favorite facial mask and a rolling pin and in an instant you have beccome the housewife from h&ll.

for heavens sake by a fake one! The energy it takes to buy these is nothing compared to what it takes to buy a real one every year. THe fakes are less prone to fire too. If you miss the pine scent, use needles from the prior year and boil them the way you would a cinnamon stick to get a frech baked smell.
The fake ones look very real now so I don’t see why you wouldn’t use that instead.

Take your own mug. These would be great to keep wound cords from tangling.You could use them for the rocker of a paper rocking chair.

You won’t believe this but credit cards are great for using to use like tiles for a mosaic. I actually saw a pool that the owner had used thousands of old credit and debbit cards to tile it. You may want to stick with trivets.

Attach the lids,all open end up,together(stuck in a lump of clay,or glued together),and fill with water.Then use to hold cut flowers with short stems,making a small table top bouquet.

I work for a strap maker in Europe, and have to say it’s disappointing that your town will not recycle this strapping. It is polypropylene, which is normally 100% recyclable. Complain to them - other places worldwide are not so un-cooperative! Sadly, the idea of winding them and glueing them won’t work - PP is one of those shiny plastics that doesn’t glue well. Weaving can look cute though. The good news is that your 50 straps a week could be a light as, say 0.15Kg/week, less than 8Kg per year. This is why newspapers use them, as the most efficient and environmentally efficient way to secure these bundles of papers.

while the pill is the only freebie you can get at the clinic, you may want to consider the nuvaring. it’s a plastic ring that you insert (can’t recycle it though) and you only use one per month. statistically it’s as effective as the pill. perhaps when you’re out of uni and paying for your own, it’ll become your BC of choice.
