My vote for the greenest goes to vasectomy. Doing the equivalent snip for females is way more complicated medically, therefore my vote for the male snip. Of course it has limitations for usability: the guy needs to be sure he doesn’t want any offspring, and a female relying on this should only have the body to body interaction with the same guy (unless she has a steady supply of these men around, lucky her..). And of course the goo won’t be as easy to clean as with condoms, so you’ll probably end up using way more paper (or I guess reusable towels..)
By the way: girls who are not into having children find snipped guys extremely hot. :) so even if the relationship would break for any reason, it will increase the (childfree) market value.

I guess Essure could score high for females – it is easier to do than traditional sterilization, but totally unsuitable for anyone who is (or will be) allergic to nickel, as the tubal inserts are indeed nickel.
As I’m way too allergic to nickel, and have always plainly refused to have any artificial female hormones, I guess I should limit my comments on condoms and snip.
Even if the rubbers would be the most packaged and chemical mix ever, they will still waste waaaay less resources than having even just one human more.

Swinging the other way would also reduce the needed contraception methods, at least for girls.

Naughty Ipswich Borough Council!

I don’t know what the situation is in Ipswich but up here in Yorkshire, there are separate bins for metal at the local tip so if nothing else, you could take them there and they’ll go into the metal scrap system.

Haven’t had much luck finding UK based re-coating companies – anyone know of any?

Hi!
I know that re-using is better before recycling, but I have 3 old saucepans that I really don’t have any other uses for (small house, not a lot of hoarding room!) and am not going to use again. A couple are a bit scratched on the insides so am not sure that a charity shop will accept them- I contacted Ipswich Borough Council to ask if they know of anywhere to recycle them and they just suggested I throw them in the normal landfill rubbish! Not exactly eco-friendly!
I’ve looked up local scrap metal places- they seem fairly hard to track down and only take metal from businesses, not small amounts from individuals it seems.
After all this…does anyone have any suggestions of places that will actually recycle them (not re-coat or whatnot)?

I usually Can reuse rusty bolts because if you have a thumbtack and you bend it at the tip and pick at the grooves in the bolt till its sharp.

For 2010 i’ve got a new house and plan to put into action the things i’ve been nagging my family about for years. The previous owners have left me a compost bin which as it’s already march i have a pile of garden waste ready to go in. My recycle bin is being used regularly, the bulbs are all of the energy saving variety and instead of buying a load of shiny new things i have reused loads of bits and bobs of furniture and kitchen ware from family and friends. I have so far even managed to get my grandads old tobacco tins to sort out the diy bits like nails and screws.

Next i need to work on my clothes and makeup and get myself and my other half away from the telly a bit more often!
