How can I reuse or recycle … old dentures?

DenturesWe’ve had an email from Diana Meyrick-Thomas asking if there are any recycling schemes for false teeth – anyone got any ideas? Are there any groups collecting them for redistribution overseas?

And what about reuses? As a veteran humourologist, I’d be tempted to make them into gag items for around the home (bottle opener? cookie cutter? biting doorbell cover?) but has anyone else got any more sensible suggestions?

Why not make a cast of them and let the kids paint them etc?

You can make a really scary dummy for Halloween, complete with a nice set of pearly whites

I`d go for the novelty use. perhaps clean them up and put them in a cake or a punch bowl.
or use them as a hamper for someone getting on in years. my aunt got one with some false teeth marked as spare parts, she also got some coco, lavander scent,a copys of womens weekly and a bingo dabber and a bingo card. lucky she has a god sense of humour.

Make some sort of scent thing out of them. You could put some lavender stuff in em’ an they would smell lovely. Might be a bit creepy tho.

I think there should be a Lab that remake, reshape your old dentures. It would be recycled, and the cost should be lower than when a new one is made.

You could always send them to my brother, who is organising a museum of dentistry at Plymouth University

If any one is interested, I could use some dentures, small medium or large makes no difference. Doesn’t matter if a few toofies are missing either.I use them in my dolls. Making them by hand is a pain in the buns. I would really appreciate it. Just give me a ping.

Hi, I’m also after some old dentures – so if anyone knows of a good source, and is willing to share the information I’d really appreciate it. It does seem like there is quite a few people willing to take them. cheers
