How can I reuse or recycle … mascara wands?

Mascara brush

Little brushes on sticks.

Oh you look so useful with your littleness and your brushiness.

But how? How? How can I use you again?

Yes, I used a clean old mascara brush for separating my eyelashes when my mascara has dried.

These also work as mini pipe cleaners – like dead pens that need a bit of cleaning before the refill.

can you clean out the pot as well and refill with a little perfume for a handbag. just dab it on with the brush.

I use my old brushes ‘cleaned’ for when I highlight my hair, It’s easier to pick out the odd strands.

These are great for cleaning under the nails, once you have washed them out. It’s important for cleanliness to clean under the nails, but regular nails brushes can scrape your nail polish right off. Also, if you are an artist, see what creative uses you can come up with using it with acrylics or oils.

Clean the brush and tube out thoroughly and after applying your mascara and letting it dry spray a wee bit of hairspray on your cleaned brush and go over your eyelashes again. It seperates out clumps and helps keep it in place :-) I keep mine in the old tube just to keep it away from germs and whatnot.

I’m a male and work in the cosmetics industry. The cosmetic house I work for makes the most amazing mascara and the wands are wonderful. I am constantly requesting factic wands for my own personal use. I use them for whitening my teeth and also cleaning them. Theyvarw gentle and can get everywhere. The rubber ones make ideal tongue scrapers. My favorite use for them is to exfoliate the lips. You should exfoliate your lips atleast once a week. Many people use a tooth brush, this can be quite rough and abrasive. Where as a mascara wand just removes any dead or dried out skin. Also great to clean fingernails and brush your eyebrows in place. Brush lightly across an eye shadow which matches your eyebrow hair colour and then spray with hair spray before brushing the hairs into place. They will stay in a tame position and appear much fuller.
